FOATT is self-service. Most teams are planning against real numbers within a couple of hours if they follow this order.
1. Create your account (5 minutes)
Sign up through the six-step wizard. It asks about your role, how many legal entities you plan for, where your books live, and which plan fits. Nothing you answer is permanent. See Create your account.
2. Bring in your chart of accounts (10 minutes)
Every plan, actual, and report hangs off your accounts, so this comes first. Pick one:
- Connect QuickBooks Online or NetSuite and let the sync build it. See Connect QuickBooks Online.
- Upload a QuickBooks Desktop General Ledger export. One file builds both the chart and the ledger. See Import from QuickBooks Desktop.
- Import a CSV or start from the built-in starter chart and edit it. See Set up your chart of accounts.
3. Load your ledger and build actuals (15 minutes)
Import general ledger transactions, then open Actuals and click Pull from GL to roll them up by account and month. See Import your general ledger.
4. Add dimensions if you plan by department or location (optional)
Skip this if you plan a single P&L. Otherwise add departments, locations, cost centers, or projects before you start entering plan numbers. See Set up dimensions.
5. Build your first plan (30 minutes)
Create a plan for the current fiscal year, type in the accounts you know, and use drivers and formulas for the rest. See Create your first plan and Write formulas.
6. Compare plan to actual
Create a report. The default layout is already plan versus actual with a variance column. See Build your first report.
7. Invite your team
Add colleagues with the right role, and restrict department heads to their own dimension if you like. See Invite your team.
Your trial lasts 14 days and needs no credit card. See Billing and your trial for what happens after that.
